ALIEN ANT FARM sign with EMG, original band line up set to release new album in 2012

by on Oct.04, 2011, under news

ALIEN ANT FARM is proud to announce their new deal with the Executive Music Group label via Fontana/Universal. The original line-up–Dryden Mitchell (lead vocals), Mike Cosgrove (drums), Terry Corso (guitar), Tye Zamora (bass)–will start to work on their fourth album in November and is looking to release it Spring 2012. It’ll be their first release since 2006′s UP IN THE ATTIC, which spawned the hit single “Forgive And Forget,” and the first with the original line-up since 2003.

We are pretty excited for the year to come,” declares guitarist Terry Corso. “We just came off of a three-month tour in the U.S. that made us realize that with the original line-up back together, we have fire and hunger again. That being said, we can hardly wait to hit the studio and start putting a new record together. We’ve been writing on and off for the past year and have a really good pile of new material. Basically the goal is to write another pile. With a fresh new collection, we hope to get our core fans excited, as well as turn some brand new listeners on to the ALIEN ANT FARM sound and show the world we have a lot more to offer than the average rock band.”

The timing of ALIEN ANT FARM signing to Executive Music Group is priceless,” said EMG President Jacob Capricciuolo. “During a time where EMG is exploding and our philosophy is to ‘hustle,’ I feel together success is imminent. I couldn’t be more proud of their work ethic and their willingness to do whatever it takes to be successful.” As EMG Vice President Jimmy Swan continues: “For 10 years, I have used ALIEN ANT FARM‘s ‘Smooth Criminal’ to show all my bands the perfect example of how to cover a song. Being a huge fan of the band, it is an honor to be able to work with them. Having the original members back in the line up will give the fans what they have been waiting for.

This week they’re traveling to the U.K. to participate in the “Michael Forever Tribute” on October 8 along with Black Eyed Peas, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aquilera, Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson and others. The band will be performing two Michael Jackson songs, including their smash hit #1 single, a remake of “Smooth Criminal.”

Being a part of the Michael Jackson tribute is an incredible honor for ALIEN ANT FARM,” proclaims singer Dryden Mitchell. “I love the idea that we will be the only rock band there. Michael just won’t stop providing HUGE platforms for us to get noticed! My first concert was Michael Jackson on his Victory Tour at Dodger Stadium when I was 10 years old. Fast forward to all that he has done for my life. Simply amazing when I take a step back and try to take it all in. I LOVE THE MAN! Incredible to say the least.

ALIEN ANT FARM recently wrapped up their 60-date U.S. “ANTicipation Tour,” which had the band performing in front of capacity crowds at every stop. It was their first headlining tour—on their own new bus–since the fatal 2002 bus crash that killed the band’s driver and left singer Dryden Mitchell with a broken vertebrae. Lots more touring is already on tap for 2012. As Dryden proclaims, “In 2012, if them pesky Mayans are wrong…a bus load of touring to support a brand new stellar record. Naked hugs for all who come out.

2CELLOS premier new video for Welcome To The Jungle

by on Jun.06, 2011, under news

Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, the 24 year-old Ukranian duo known as 2CELLOS became an overnight internet sensation with their self-made music video of themselves performing Michael Jackson‘s “Smooth Criminal” on their cellos. With “Smooth Criminal” racking up over 5 million views on YouTube, Sulic and Hauser have premiered the video for the next 2CELLOS single on VEVO: A rocking rendition of the Guns N’ Roses worldwide hit, “Welcome to the Jungle.”

Of the new single Sulic says: “Covering “Welcome to the Jungle” was a real challenge but that one we were up for! We chose this song because we thought that it could sound like a whole symphony using only our 2 cellos. We’re really proud of it and think it rocks!”

The 2CELLOS debut self-titled album will be released this summer on July 19th via Sony Masterworks, and the duo will kick off a European summer tour opening for Elton John on June 8th at Cardiff International Arena in Wales.

2CELLOS is now available for pre-order on the 2CELLOS website. Each pre-order of the CD comes with a free 11″ x 17″ poster/calendar. An instant MP3 download of “Smooth Criminal” will be included with pre-order of either the CD or MP3 version of the album. The debut album features Sulic & Hauser‘s unique spin on hits by Guns N’ Roses, U2, Coldplay and Kings of Leon among others.

We grew up with Michael Jackson, U2 and Nirvana. The melody and structure of their songs really inspired us to arrange them for 2 cellos. Bands like Coldplay, Kings of Leon and Muse also write songs with those similar melodic qualities – so we had a great time digging in and making them part of this album too,” says Luka Sulic.

2CELLOS Tracklisting:
1. Where The Streets Have No Name (U2)
2. Miserlou / Pulp Fiction Theme (Dick Dale)
3. Use Somebody (Kings of Leon)
4. Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson)
5. Fragile (Sting)
6. The Resistance (Muse)
7. Hurt (Trent Reznor/Johnny Cash)
8. Welcome To The Jungle (Guns N’ Roses)
9. Human Nature (Michael Jackson)
10. Viva La Vida (Coldplay)
11. Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana)
12. With or Without You (U2)
