FOO FIGHTERS Release Documentary of Garage Tour
by admin on Aug.02, 2011, under news
Earlier this year the Foo Fighters honored some lucky fans by playing shows in their garages. The band recently released a 40 minute documentary recounting the experience. The video, which can be seen below, was shot at multiple fans’ garages throughout the spring.
The band is currently touring North America in support of their recent release “Wasting Light”. Tickets and music can be purchased through the band’s official website.
FOO FIGHTERS’ Dave Grohl says ‘Fuck No’ to Glee
by admin on Mar.18, 2011, under editorials, news
From The Hollywood Reporter:
Don’t count on hearing the Foo Fighters hit “Times Like These” on Glee anytime soon. Frontman Dave Grohl says he and his bandmates are squarely in the corner of Kings of Leon and Slash. As in, they want no part of the Ryan Murphy-helmed show.
“It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do fucking Glee,” Grohl told THR following the premiere of Foo Fighters: Back and Forth, the new Foo Fighters documentary which just made its South By Southwest debut. “And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his fucking show… fuck that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.”

***EDITOR’S NOTE:
Fight for your right to rock. On YOUR terms. I am not the biggest Foo Fighters fan, in fact I think their best songs are covers of Prince and Gerry Rafferty. But I respect their right to put out their music and control it as they see fit (I also backed Metallica in the Napster fiasco). So have a little tact (yeah I know, Me calling the kettle black) Mr. Murphy and don’t talk shit about the bands that don’t want to give you the rights to their music. You sense of entitlement little prick. Hello Kettle!
Wino acoustic album Adrift revealed
by admin on Dec.08, 2010, under news
We don’t need to rave about the well-known legacy of the man who is Scott Weinrich, better known as WINO. With dozens of albums released throughout his time spent in THE OBSESSED, SAINT VITUS, SHINE, SPIRIT CARAVAN, THE HIDDEN HAND, SHRINEBUILDER, Dave Grohl‘s PROBOT project and much more since the late ’70s, his mammoth and varied resume spans nearly three full decades, essentially set him up as a purveyor and forerunner of the entire genre we now call doom rock. A true legend; this is Wino. But, with the release of the humble but legendary musician’s new solo album, Adrift, a side of the man that most haven’t heard is being uncovered for the first time.
Answering the call from his friends and supporters to record an acoustic solo album following the sudden and tragic passing of friend and bandmate Jon Blank, who appeared on Wino‘s first “solo release” Punctuated Equilibrium album in 2009, he set to work on his most personal and powerful recording to date. Adrift is a revealing alternative view of this underground legend’s personality and history. Stripped down to the bare minimum — just his voice and his guitar — the songs on Adrift follow classic American songwriting ideals offering a compelling mixture of emotion and storytelling.
Wino is a man on his own in a boat without sails. He’s fighting against tides and storms, enjoying the moments of bright sunshine; bound to the will of something external — the wind, destiny and the drift. Easily his most heartfelt and personal material to be recorded to date, the twelve tracks on Adrift help elevate this already iconic musician to a new level of storytelling, setting Wino up to fall right in line with greats like JOHNNY CASH, WOODIE GUTHRIE, NEIL YOUNG, BOB DYLAN and other classic American songwriters.
Adrift tracklisting:

Adrift is set for official release on respected German label Exile On Mainstream Records March 8th, 2011 in North America, the label now distributed domestically by E1 Entertainment. A limited edition vinyl version of the album featuring extended liner notes and more is to be released in the US on January 18th by Volcom Entertainment.
Wino will hit the road stateside this February on a short acoustic tour, rocking alongside longtime friend, and also Shrinebuilder bandmate, SCOTT KELLY (NEUROSIS). The tour will be in support of the upcoming split 7″ between Wino and Kelly, to be released early in the year by Volcom, as well as the Adrift album. The tour will venture through California, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York, showcasing both legendary artists each in solo, acoustic mode.

ANVIL sign with The End Records, new album & anthology out in 2011
by admin on Nov.26, 2010, under news
Canadian heavy metal legends ANVIL have signed a new recording contract with The End Records.
As recently announced, the band is currently recording their upcoming album, entitled Juggernaut Of Justice, at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California with famed producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, AIRBOURNE, FILTER, ATREYU, ALICE COOPER).
Juggernaut Of Justice is due to be released in spring 2011. Prior to the release of the new album, The End will be releasing the definitive Anvil anthology. The collection will be comprised of classics old and new, with some surprises, and will showcase the band’s entire career spanning back to 1978.
Anvil, considered a major influence for a generation of hard rockers including METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX and GUNS N’ ROSES, was the subject of 2009’s award-winning rock documentary, Anvil! The Story of Anvil. The globally revered film has made the group – founding members singer/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner, and bassist Glenn Five (the “new guy” with 15 years in the band) – a household name.
Lips commented, “I must say that this is by far the best Anvil ever. There will be a few new surprises including Glenn 5‘s first lead vocals in Anvil‘s history. The production that Bob Marlette has done far surpasses anything we’ve done in the past. The excitement within the band is over the top and we can’t wait to unleash this amazing cd to the fans.”
Reiner concurs, “The new album is pure Anvil with a new fresh kick, very exciting. Looking to rocking with The End, putting the music where it belongs – in everybody’s ears and face!”
Anvil are currently planning a world tour for 2011 in support of Juggernaut Of Justice. Details will be announced shortly.

LEMMY documentary official trailer now online
by admin on Oct.01, 2010, under news
A new trailer for “Lemmy“, the long-awaited documentary examining the life and career of MOTÖRHEAD frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister, can be viewed below.
“Lemmy” premiered in March 2010 during the South by Southwest at the historic Paramount Theatre in Austin.
“Lemmy” directors/producers Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski spent three years following Kilmister around the globe — from his Hollywood home to the hockey arenas of Russia.
“Lemmy” features appearances by such high-profile Kilmister friends/peers as METALLICA, Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Billy Bob Thornton and pro wrestler Triple H.
Hailed as a godfather of heavy metal, 64-year-old Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister has established himself as the living embodiment of rock and roll over the past four decades. After stints with popular Mersey beat band THE ROCKIN’ VICKERS and influential psychedelic rockers HAWKWIND, and even a brief time spent as a member of Jimi Hendrix‘s road crew, Lemmy formed MOTÖRHEAD in 1975.
Going on to record such influential metal classics as “Overkill“, “Ace of Spades” and “Bomber“, the Grammy Award-winning MOTÖRHEAD and Kilmister‘s fusion of punk and metal registered a major influence on such bands as METALLICA, GUNS N’ ROSES and NIRVANA.
2010 marks the 35th anniversary of the birth of MOTÖRHEAD, which features Kilmister, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee.
