FOUR NIGHTS GONE- Crash & Burn EP

Rating: 8 out of 10

Reviewed By: Jay Rybak

Staten Island based Four Nights Gone formed in 2010, with one purpose in mind, to take the rock world by storm.  With the recent release of their debut EP, it appears a storm is brewing.  The quartet cites such bands as Breaking Benjamin, and Chevelle as their biggest influences; my ears agree and then some…

This five song offering is a musical melting pot, a tympanic twist of Breaking Benjamin-meets-Five Finger Death Punch sprinkled with a healthy dose of Maidenesque guitar wizardry.  Highlights include the title track, “Crash & Burn”, and the lyrically brilliant single “My Last Call” .  I would, however, be the shittiest, deafest music critic ever if I didn’t single out the album’s shining star, “The Message”.  “The Message” is the complete package that sets your mental music player to repeat, a radio friendly rocketship poised to shoot this foursome straight to stardom; but even more importantly, it’s the reason I’m about to deliver you this message… Click here, buy the album, and show these guys some fucking love!

2012 marks the debut of Carolina Rebellion at its new home at the legendary Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, NC, conveniently situated between Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, Columbia and Greensboro. Also new in 2012: weekend RV and Tent Camping and the Friday Night Campground Party presented by Jägermeister, featuring performances from Foxy Shazam, Lez Zeppelin, One…The Only Tribute to Metallica. The current lineup for Carolina Rebellion is as follows: Shinedown, Korn, Evanescence, Staind, Five Finger Death Punch, Slash, Chevelle, Volbeat, Halestorm, P.O.D., Adelitas Way, Paper Tongues, Weaving The Fate, Redlight King, Red, New Medicine and Ghosts Of August. The festival will once again feature the two Monster Energy main stages and the Jägermeister third stage.

Jonathan Davis of Korn says: “We’re excited to bring Korn‘s new show to North Carolina and we fully intend on blasting out the loudest set of new dope sh#t ever at the Carolina Rebellion!!!

It is an absolute honor to be the headliner at such an amazing festival. It’s been a minute North Carolina…It’s good to be back. We can’t wait to see the masses at the Rebellion!” comments Brent Smith of Shinedown.

Along with AEG Live, Right Arm is beyond excited to unleash the Carolina Rebellion lineup,” says Gary Spivack, co-executive producerof the festival for Right Arm Entertainment. “Like last year, it was our goal to make sure the 2012 lineup was stacked from top to bottom. Three stages of non-stop rock ‘n roll and a Friday night party to kick it all off…The ultimate rock festival in the Carolinas. Let the Rebellion begin!

General Admission tickets for Carolina Rebellion go on sale to the public on Friday, February 17 at 10am EST at www.carolinarebellion.com and www.ticketmaster.com. Based on 2011 attendee feedback, Carolina Rebellion organizers have implemented various upgrades and vast venue improvements to provide a premier concert experience at the multi-stage rock festival. The new centrally-located site provides plenty of space to expand, including more food and beverage stands, merchandise stands, restrooms and parking, and also offers more traffic routes to and from the event.

When our fans speak, we listen,” commented Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of the festival for AEG Live. “We personally responded to every person who sent us comments, and because of that important feedback, our motto this year is ‘Let’s double it!’ Double the number of entrance points into the festival, double the number of concession stands, double the number of merchandise stands, and double the number of locations for free water…We’re taking the steps to make Carolina Rebellion an upgraded experience for everyone.

In addition, all ticket prices will include parking to ensure quicker access to the parking areas, and earlier entry into the parking areas and will be allowed, along with earlier door times, to better alleviate the traffic and lines. The inclusion of the new Camping Packages will encourage fans to arrive on Friday starting at 10am and stay until Noon on Sunday, thereby relieving traffic congestion on Saturday.

Further improvements to amenities include: a larger box office area for will call pickup, shade locations in public areas and the Hangover Recovery VIP Lounge area inside the festival grounds to allow those with VIP Lounge tickets to have a special place to enjoy the event.

Our sponsors mean as much to us as our fans do,” added Litvag. “And without the support of music-centric companies like Monster Energy, who present our two main stages at Rebellion, we couldn’t put a festival of this size and scope on for the people.

Carolina Rebellion is also proud to be sponsored by Jägermeister, Hangover Recovery, and f.y.e. – for your entertainment (which will be on site selling CDs and DVDs and will host band autograph signings throughout the festival day). Carolina Rebellion is produced by Right Arm Entertainment and AEG Live, the same team that produces the highly successful Rock On The Range in Columbus, OH. Tickets for the 2011 inaugural Carolina Rebellion sold out more than one month in advance and attendance exceeded 30,000.

Rockingham Speedway is located at 2152 N US HWY 1, Rockingham, NC, less than two hours from Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, Columbia and Greensboro.

JANUS Returns With ‘Nox Aeris’ Album-Due Out March 27th–Tour With CHEVELLE and MIDDLE CLASS RUT Kicks Off February 24th

by on Jan.21, 2012, under news

January 19, 2012 — JANUS—singer David Scotney, guitarist Mike Tyranski, bassist Alan Quitman and drummer Johnny Salazar—experienced great success with their 2009 debut album, RED RIGHT RETURN, but the band’s new album, NOX AERIS, reveals how far they’ve come.

That musical revelation is the self-produced NOX AERIS, which is due out March 27 on REALID Records (through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group).  The first single, “Stains,” is already getting spins at WIIL (Chicago), KPNT (St. Louis), WBUZ (Nashville), WJJO (Madison), WWBN (Flint), KHTQ (Spokane), as well as SiriusXM’s “Octane” and “Hard Drive XL.”  Early feedback includes Zigz at WBUZ (Nashville), who says, “If ‘Stains’ is a taste of things to come… then 2012 is going to be a great year for Janus.  They’ve hit on a new level with ‘Stains’… this track is righteous.”

“Stains” explores what can happen when you don’t follow your heart, the marks left on your spirit when you become someone you’re not.  “It embodies what I was trying to say on the record,” says singer David Scotney, “it’s a dark point of view, but represents a cathartic process of self-healing.”

In 2012 touring news, the band’s first round of tour dates will be with Chevelle and Middle Class Rut starting February 24 in Grand Rapids, MI.  Additional dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

The record’s title, which is Latin for “night air,” comes from the 14th Century, a period where a third of the European population was killed off by the plague.  Then, people believed going outdoors at night would cause them to succumb to the Black Death.  While writing NOX AERIS, JANUS found this idea to be an apt metaphor for their own journey, preconceived notions of their own being flipped around as they became a bigger, more established band since the release of RED RIGHT RETURN.  NOX AERIS reveals who JANUS is and what they’ve gone through.

RED RIGHT RETURN came out in September 2009 on REALID Records and spawned the Top 10 Active Rock hit, “Eyesore.”  They spent months on the road touring with Chevelle, Sick Puppies, Sevendust, Pop Evil, Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch, and Alice In Chains JANUS also sold-out numerous headlining shows of their own, appeared on MTV’s “Headbangers Ball” and performed in the biggest rock festivals in the U.S., including Rock On The RangeAbsolutepunk.net raved about the album:  “There are a few bands, given the opportunity, could take the radio by storm.  JANUS is a perfect example of this type of band.  If they were given the chance, and played on some larger radio stations alongside all of our alternative ‘favorites’ (sound-alikes), they could earn themselves hordes of fans.”  While Away-team.com hailed in a 9 out of 10 album review:  “Brilliant on many levels and impeccably engineered and produced to perfection.”

Check out JANUS with Chevelle and Middle Class Rut at any of the following stops:

DARK NEW DAY Returns With ‘New Tradition’- Due Out February 28th

by on Jan.06, 2012, under news

January 6, 2012 — Prepare for the return of a DARK NEW DAY.   DARK NEW DAYClint Lowery (guitarist from Sevendust), Will Hunt (drummer from Evanescence), Troy McLawhorn (guitarist from Evanescence), Brett Hestla (lead singer/guitarist from Virgos Merlot) and Corey Lowery (bassist from Stereomud and Eye Empire)—will release their highly anticipated sophomore album, NEW TRADITION, February 28 on Goomba Music (distributed by eOne Music).  The first single, “New Tradition” is currently being serviced to radio stations nationwide.

NEW TRADITION is the follow-up to 2005’s debut album, TWELVE YEAR SILENCE, which was released on Warner Bros. Records.  In 2006, the band released THE BLACK PORCH ACOUSTIC SESSIONS EP after being on tour for over a year with Chevelle, Seether, Crossfade, and many others.  After the EP’s release, they got to work on what would eventually be their second album, known at the time as HAIL MARY.  Going through many employee and management changes, Warner Bros. decided to release the band from their contract, leaving the HAIL MARY album to be unreleased.  It was at this point that DARK NEW DAY went on a hiatus, with the members either returning to their previous bands or venturing out into new projects.   The fire for new DARK NEW DAY material continued to burn in both the band members and the diehard fan base alike.  The band came together in 2011 to compile tracks from HAIL MARY, along with newly written and recorded songs, for a special album which will be released as a “Thank You” to all the loyal fans that have continued to follow the band and request more material from the group.   “We’re very excited about the new DARK NEW DAY release,” proclaims guitarist Clint Lowery“It seems the time is right to make these songs public and share with the fans that continue to support this project.  We believe this music is still very valid and powerful today, and think its mandatory we give these songs a fair chance out in the music world.  We owe it to ourselves and the DND fans.  NEW TRADITION sums up the mindset we were in writing the follow-up to TWELVE YEAR SILENCE.”

Here’s the complete track listing of NEW TRADITION:

1.  Fist From The Sky

2.  Come Alive

3.  I Don’t Need You

4.  New Tradition

5.  Tremendous

6.  Sorry

7.  Straightjacket

8.  Take It From Me

9.  Caught In The Light

10.  Sunday

11.  Fiend

12.  Breakdown

13.  Burns Your Eyes

CHEVELLE release Shameful Metaphors video

by on Sep.25, 2010, under news

Shameful Metaphors“, the new video from the Chicago-based trio CHEVELLE, can be viewed below. The clip was shot and directed by Frankie Nasso (MUDVAYNE, ALL THAT REMAINS, HELLYEAH) at the Dallas, Texas stop of this year’s Carnival Of Madness tour. The band played the song only once and performed it to perfection. The video is beautifully shot and Nasso once again exhibits his pure talent as a music video director.

Commented CHEVELLE drummer Sam Loeffler:
We really wanted the fans to be a part of this new video, and we were really excited that everyone came down to the show and had a blast with us. This video shows us in our rawest form and it truly comes out during our performances and this video captures that.

10 YEARS streaming ‘Shoot It Out’ single on their MySpace page now

by on Jul.01, 2010, under news

Shoot It Out“, the new single from Knoxville, Tennessee alternative hard rockers 10 YEARS, is available for streaming on the band’s MySpace page here. The track, which will be released via iTunes on July 6, comes off the group’s third album, “Feeding the Wolves“, due on August 31 via Universal Republic Records.

Shoot It Out” has already been blasted out to radio, infiltrating Active and Modern Rock stations nationwide this past month, and it’s a fitting preview of what’s to come from the quartet’s anxiously awaited new CD.

On “Shoot It Out“, 10 YEARS deliver its trademark soaring melodies, while conjuring a darker, heavier vibe than before. The band embraces its metallic side and truly blows away all expectations with “Shoot It Out“.

10 YEARS debuted “Shoot It Out” while on tour with FLYLEAF during the “Unite and Fight Tour” this spring (see video below), and it instantly became a crowd favorite alongside hits such as “Beautiful” and “Wasteland”.

In order to bring “Feeding the Wolves” to the masses, 10 YEARS will join SHINEDOWN, SEVENDUST and CHEVELLE on this summer’s “Carnival of Madness Tour“. These four juggernauts of modern rock have put together a package that’s bound to be remembered for years to come, and it’s the perfect platform for fans to experience selections from “Feeding the Wolves” live and hear favorites from the band’s past releases “The Autumn Effect” (2005) and “Division” (2008).
