BAD COMPANY Live At Wembley CD/DVD to be released June 28th

by on Jun.14, 2011, under news

When legendary classic rockers Bad Company performed at the historic British venue Wembley Arena in London on a beautiful April 2010 spring night, high-definition cameras captured the whole evening in all its glory. On June 28, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Live At Wembley simultaneously on DVD, Blu-Ray & CD, through its Eagle Vision & Eagle Records imprints.

There was magic in the air as all three original Bad Company members—vocalist extraordinaire Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke—are augmented by bassist Lynn Sorensen and guitarist Howard Leese. (Original bassist Boz Burrell died in 2006.)

The set list is packed with every major hit, fan favorites and seldom-heard deep album cuts. The DVD and Blu-Ray includes a band interview.

Bad Company burst upon the rock’n’roll scene in 1973, and was immediately dubbed a super-group by fans and press alike, as its members all came from very successful popular bands: Free (Rodgers and Kirke), Mott The Hoople (Ralphs) and King Crimson (Burrell). They lived up to the hype for nine straight years with a string of six soulful hard-rocking albums. After a four-year break, they got back together minus Rodgers (who had formed The Firm with Jimmy Page). Rodgers returned in 1999.

STYX takes to the road with THE GRAND ILLUSION & PIECES OF EIGHT in their entirety

by on Aug.04, 2010, under news

STYX - Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitars), James “JY” Young (vocals, guitars), Lawrence Gowan (vocals, keyboards), Todd Sucherman (drums) and Ricky Phillips (bass), along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo—are getting ready to head out on the U.S. concert trail again this year. However, for this round of dates, the band has an extra-special treat planned – it won’t be a typical STYX show. Along with the classic hits, the band will be performing 1977′s THE GRAND ILLUSION and 1978′s PIECES OF EIGHT in their entirety. Both albums spawned such hit singles and Classic Rock radio standards as “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man” and “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man).”

And as icing on the cake, a seven-song EP, entitled REGENERATION, VOLUME 1, containing six newly re-recorded classics–”Come Sail Away,” “Crystal Ball,” “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man),” “Lorelei,” “The Grand Illusion” and “Sing For The Day”—and a brand new track, “Difference In The World,” will be available for sale at every stop along “The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight” October/November tour route.

This is the most unique STYX concert ever,” says singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw. “It’s a hybrid experience of enjoying the artistry of the vinyl album and the energy and of our live performance. Some songs have never been performed live!

Spawned from a suburban Chicago basement in the early ‘70s, STYX would eventually transform into the virtual arena rock prototype by the late ’70s and early ’80s, due to a fondness for big rockers and soaring power ballads. Over the course of their 38-year career they’ve released 15 studio albums, 6 best-of compilations and 4 live albums, garnering 8 Top Ten singles. STYX has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

On the touring front, STYX has performed more shows since ’99 than all of the previous years of its career combined. Two Super-Bowl appearances, Pollstar box office chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company, Foreigner (to name a few), two more studio albums and no end in sight, STYX continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time.

BAD COMPANY announce North American Summer Tour

by on Jun.28, 2010, under news

The original, founding members of BAD COMPANY Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke — have announced that they will reunite for a series of North American concerts this summer. Tentatively set to begin July 16, the trek will include coast-to-coast dates in the U.S. and Canada throughout the summer, with more shows to be added. BAD COMPANY will also partner exclusively with Abbey Road Live to record and sell live concert CDs onsite at each venue throughout the tour.

Having recently completed its first U.K. tour in over three decades — a sold-out run culminating with a sold-out show at Wembley — BAD COMPANY‘s concerts across the pond were star-studded affairs, attracting the likes of Sting, Robert Plant, Tony Iommi and former bandmate from THE FIRM, Jimmy Page, who proclaimed, “Paul Rodgers has been, and still is by far, one of the finest talents of our musical genre…absolutely brilliant.

Our last show, at Wembley, was unreal, truly amazing,” said Rodgers. “I can’t remember a BAD COMPANY gig when everything from sound, lights, fans, music to musicians all peaked at the same show. That has left us all naturally high and primed to play more shows. The upcoming set list will be hit heavy with a few surprises. We have hit our stride.
