12 STONES Ready To Show What’s ‘Beneath The Scars’ With Their Infectious New Album- Out May 22nd
by admin on Feb.23, 2012, under news
February 22, 2012 – 12 STONES will release their fourth album, BENEATH THE SCARS, May 22 on the Executive Music Group label via Fontana/Universal. The band joined forces, once again, with producer Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, Skillet, Saliva), who had previously worked with 12 STONES on 2007’s ANTHEM FOR THE UNDERDOG. The first single, “Infected,” mixed by Johnny K (3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Staind), is currently being serviced to Rock radio and will be available for download on iTunes and Amazon on February 28.
Fans who pre-order BENEATH THE SCARS from the band’s official website will have early download access to six songs starting March 6. The rest of the album will then be made available on May 22.
A lyric video for “Infected” recently premiered on Loudwire.com and can be seen below. As singer Paul McCoy explains, “The song ‘Infected’ was written about the messed up state of the world. It speaks about how crazy these times are, and about being fed up with the chaos and hatred.”
Early buzz for BENEATH THE SCARS surfaced last year as the track “Bulletproof”—which was mixed by Mike Shipley (Green Day, 30 Seconds To Mars)–made its way onto Rock radio stations across the country, including SiriusXM’s “Octane,” WIIL (Chicago), WBSX (Wilkes-Barre), KDJE (Little Rock), WRXW (Jackson), KFRQ (McAllen) and KHTQ (Spokane). It reached #1 on the CMW “Rock” chart, where it lived for eight consecutive weeks.
As singer Paul McCoy explains, “The album title comes from knowing that we all eventually fall short of our expectations regardless of financial, emotional, physical well being. But in the same breath, we all strive to find a way to better ourselves. That’s human nature. There are always two sides to people. It’s all about realizing that we all bleed the same. We are ALL human. Lyrically, the songs capture the essence of life’s challenges. As an example, the song ‘I’m With You’ is about the impact a friend’s suicide had on all of us in the band. It’s a song of hope for those that are going through the trials we all face and the hardships that are a part of life.”
A new partnership with the Executive Music Group and a recording that is the realized vision of a decade of finding their voice in BENEATH THE SCARS has delivered a renewed passion for the future of 12 STONES. “Thanks to EMG,” says McCoy, “we have found a new love for this industry. I think that people forget how hard it is to succeed when you don’t have the right people in place. We think that we are finally poised to break through the mold. I have never felt stronger about what we are doing and I think that this is only the beginning for this band.” Guitarist Eric Weaver added, “EMG, and their partners in Fontana/Universal, are all supporting the vision that we have for the band. We’ve always wanted to reach out to our fans that are all over the world, and finally we’re getting to do that. Our first tour in support of BENEATH THE SCARS will be in the U.S., and the opportunity to tour globally is something we have been waiting years for.”
12 STONES’ previous albums and singles have sold over one million copies in the U.S., in addition to singer Paul McCoy winning a Grammy® Award for “Best Hard Rock Performance” for his contribution on Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” smash hit single which went on to sell over 14 million albums worldwide. The band has also garnered multiple GMA Dove Nominations for their singles “Broken” and “Lie To Me.”

CD Review: 3 DOORS DOWN- Time of My Life
by admin on Jul.15, 2011, under news, reviews
Universal/ Republic
Rating: 7 out of 10
Reviewed by: Jay Rybak
While I admittedly have not been a fan of much of the work 3 Doors Down has done as of late, I have been digging their new single “Every Time You Go”. That being said, I decided to delve into their latest offering Time of My Life to see what other ear-pleasing entrees lie within. What I found was an album packed with more ups and downs than the ongoing NFL Labor negotiations.
The album jumps out of the gates with the guitar-heavy, high energy title track. Once we get primed and ready to go, the boys from Mississippi take things down a notch with their hit ballad, “When You’re Young”. Enjoyable nonetheless, the first single off of the album is an ode to overbearing parental guidance and crushed dreams. From here, the train gets rolling again with “Round and Round”. Though not the Ratt cover I was hoping for when I saw the name of the track, this one is another high energy cymbal-smasher that keeps drummer Greg Upchurch busier than Tiger Woods at a Sorority Slumber Party.
The up and down pattern continues through the next couple of tracks; from the self-lamenting love ballad “Heaven”, to the energetic “Race For the Sun”. “Back to Me” follows up with a musical sound similar to that of Shinedown’s .45, but is unfortunately combined with a lyrical quality that makes it destined to be the song of choice for high-school Romeo’s trying to get to first base at the school dance.
One of the album’s least desirable tracks is followed up by one of it’s brightest spots. The latest single “Every Time You Go” is a catchy, solid tune, destined for major radio play. It’s one of those songs you “hate to love”, because once it gets in your head it stays there like the friend we’ve all had that doesn’t quite know when it’s time to head home. Despite not every song in the album’s first half being a home run hitter, I can still see myself singing karaoke to any one of them after indulging in a few adult beverages.
You ask “What’s Left?” Well that just so happens to be the name of the next track in this ballad-rocker roller coaster. The aforementioned is a slight departure from the norm, in that upon first listen you might think your CD player malfunctioned and you were listening to the Country music station. That doesn’t necessarily make it a bad song, let’s just call it different. Speaking of different, the next track, “On The Run”, is an interesting musical mashup that sounds like Matchbox 20 teamed up with Jake E. Lee on guitar. A tough call, definitely one that will require several more listens before I make my love/hate determination.
Track #10, “She Is Love”, I do not. This is by no means a knock on Santana, but the emulation of the latin guitar god’s style on this track, leaves us with something more suitable for a retirement community dining room. Within the first minute of this one I was overcome with the smell of White Diamonds and urine. Once I got my bearings back and made sure there weren’t any dentures in my water, I was met with the pleasant surprise that is “My Way”. This is 3 Doors Down in it’s purest… redemption. Just as I was ready to write this one off as just another mediocre album from 3 Doors Down, enter the final chapter, “Believer”. Now we’re talking! This riff-heavy, fast paced, foot stomper is just the smash in the teeth they needed to rescue this album from mediocrity. Perhaps my favorite song on the album, the guitar solo at approximately 2:15 is enough to make any air guitarists fingers bleed. But be careful not to get any blood on the stereo when you press the repeat button on this one.
All in all, Time of My Life give you much more (and much less) than you bargained for, but the good outweighs the bad here, and this album comes Highly Recommended.
Time of My Life hits stores this Tuesday July 19th. For more info on 3 Doors Down including tour dates, and to purchase music click here
POP EVIL’s War Of Angels rains down on July 5, 2011
by admin on Jun.07, 2011, under news
Pazzo Records
Fans get ready! POP EVIL will finally be able to release their second album, War Of Angels, on Tuesday, July 5 with new label Eone Music. The delay had nothing to do with the band, it was their former label, Universal, that was holding up the deal. I talked last month with Matt DiRito and Tony Greve and they were as frustrated as the rest of us that their 2nd release has been pushed back for months. “But I’m pissed that it ended up affecting the fans with the release date of the new album and everything. That’s what makes me mad. It’s everywhere we go, it’s every night, everyone’s asking us when the album is going to be released. And I have to say I’m sorry. They sometimes get mad at us.” said Matt DiRito. But the wait is now almost over! YES!!!
War Of Angels is the follow up to their 2008 freshman release, Lipstick On The Mirror. It’s been a frustrating ride the last few months but finally the band will be coming to your town rockin’ with the new release. War Of Angels was produced by Grammy Award nominated producer/engineer Johnny K, who has worked with the Disturbed, 3 Doors Down and Staind.
Since the fall 2010 release of the single, Last Man Standing, the band has enjoyed success early on and the song peaked at #5 on the active rock charts. POP EVIL is more than ready to start this new chapter in their career and reward those loyal fans who have so patiently rode the storm out. The band even went so far as to tear up the band’s Universal recording contract while on stage at Rock on the Range festival a weeks ago to the cheers of thousands. It gave me tingles to watch it. And fierce pride to know these very talented musicians are finally going to get the recognition they deserve as contenders for the coveted belt of their genre.

“Theory of a Deadman is totally stoked to be doing the Carnival of Madness Tour this year,” says singer/guitarist Tyler Connolly. “It’s great to be joined by Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, Adelitas Way and newcomers Emphatic – who all have songs rocking at radio and awesome live shows. Continues Alter Bridge singer/guitarist Myles Kennedy: “Alter Bridge is pleased to be taking part of the Carnival of Madness Tour later this summer with Theory Of A Deadman, Black Stone Cherry, Adelitas Way and Emphatic. It will be great to be back in the U.S. playing on our home turf with these bands. If you dig straight up, no frills Rock…then this tour is for you. Hope to see everyone there!”
One of Vancouver’s greatest exports, Theory of a Deadman, is returning to give rock music a much needed reality check with their fourth studio release, THE TRUTH IS… The album is slated for release on July 12 via Roadrunner/604 Records and the first single, “Lowlife,” is already storming its way up the rock charts. THE TRUTH IS…, the follow up to the band’s previous Platinum-selling SCARS AND SOUVENIRS, was produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, 3 Doors Down). The band recently wrapped playing the inaugural Avalanche tour alongside Stone Sour, Skillet, Halestorm and Art of Dying, and will be playing select festivals before heading out on the Carnival of Madness Tour. Theory of a Deadman is Tyler Connolly (vocals, guitar), David Brenner (guitar), Dean Back (bass) and Joey Dandeneau (drums).
Alter Bridge has been making their mark on the rock world for years through their three studio releases and non-stop touring. The band is currently haunting the Top 20 of the Rock charts with their latest single, “Ghost of Days Gone By.” The single, the follow-up their #1 rock smash “Isolation,” is from their Alter Bridge Recordings via EMI Label Services release ABIII, which debuted at #17 on Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” chart when it was released last November. In preparation for the Carnival of Madness Tour, the band just wrapped up a successful headline run with Black Stone Cherry and Like a Storm. Alter Bridge has also made successful national TV appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live in support of ABIII. Alter Bridge is Myles Kennedy (vocals, guitar), Mark Tremonti (guitar, vocals), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Phillips (drums).
Kentucky’s Black Stone Cherry–vocalist Chris Robertson, guitarist Ben Wells, bassist Jon Lawhon and drummer John Fred Young–is a band adept at creating both timeless rock ‘n roll and new, innovative sounds. The band have recently released their third album for Roadrunner Records, BETWEEN THE DEVIL & THE DEEP BLUE SEA, which is the summation of a year in the life of the band—every emotion, triumph, loss, romance and everything in between—it’s all here on this album. The first single, “White Trash Millionaire,” is currently approaching sitting at #15 on the Active Rock charts and climbing.
Las Vegas-based rockers Adelitas Way will release their sophomore album, HOME SCHOOL VALEDICTORIAN, June 7 on Virgin Records. The album, produced by Dave Bassett (Shinedown), showcases the band’s lyrical and musical growth. The band has spent the past couple of years on the road and is excited to be part of this year’s Carnival.
Hard rock band Emphatic will release DAMAGE, their Atlantic Records debut, on July 12. Led by vocalist Patrick Wilson and lead guitarist Justin McCain, Emphatic has spent years honing their edge on the road, headlining clubs and theaters along with supporting such like-minded artists as Stone Temple Pilots, Buckcherry, and Papa Roach. DAMAGE, produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf), features the song “Bounce,” which is currently climbing the Active Rock charts.
The Carnival of Madness Tour made its inaugural launch in 2010 with Shinedown, Sevendust, Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd and 10 Years, which proved to be one of the biggest Rock shows of the summer as a Top 50 tour.

Making its first U.S. concert appearance in four years — and playing its only U.S. show in 2010 — GUNS N’ ROSES has been officially recruited with DAUGHTRY to join the inaugural Rock ‘N Rev Festival and cement its assault on the legendary Sturgis Rally‘s 70th-anniversary celebration in Sturgis, South Dakota, at the newly constructed Rock N’ Rev Amphitheater at Monkey Rock USA.
GUNS N’ ROSES will headline the fifth and final night of the festival, as it moves to the Brand New Rock ‘N Rev Amphitheater at Monkey Rock USA in Sturgis, adjacent to its original location. L.A.’s notorious rock ‘n’ roll bad boys have combined forces with HDlogix and DC3 Global for this rare and very special appearance on home soil to bring the “full-out rock ‘n’ roll spectacle” (Spin) of their 2010 “Chinese Democracy World Tour” to Sturgis and finish off the hijacking of the world’s biggest, baddest biker event, Monday, August 9 through Friday, August 13, 2010.
GUNS N’ ROSES‘ final night performance, immediately following previously announced August 13 headliner ALICE IN CHAINS, is the ultimate climax to five full nights of undeniable rock ‘n’ roll bedlam, and now gives the Rock ‘N Rev Festival six of the most explosive, multi-platinum American Active Rock Bands of 2010. DAUGHTRY, supporting its second consecutive #1 album, will join 3 DOORS DOWN, HINDER and others on Aug. 12, the fourth night of the Rock N’ Rev Festival.

Catullo III. “Monkey Rock’s vision to create a nationally recognized brand among the world’s top motorcycle rallies is a perfect fit for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them as our partners.”
Tickets for the Rock ‘N Rev Festival are $45 per day, general admission ($150 for a five-day pass), and on sale now through Ticketmaster.com and rocknrevfestival.com and at all Ticketmaster locations, or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Tickets also will be available in person beginning August 5, 2010 on location at the festival’s on-site box office.

Sturgis ROCK ‘N REV Festival lineup announced
by admin on Jun.15, 2010, under news
The inaugural Rock ‘N Rev Festival scheduled for Aug. 9-13 as part of the Sturgis Rally just got a little louder with the addition of Alice In Chains to the sonic onslaught.
Sure, Rock ‘N Rev already features plenty of bands guaranteed to rock the heavens over the little South Dakota town known for the world’s largest motorcycle event, now celebrating its 75th year. Stone Temple Pilots, Creed, Godsmack, 3 Doors Down, Hinder, Three Days Grace, Theory Of A Deadman and Wolfmother are just some of the bands signed on for five spine-tingling nights at the Glencoe Camp Resort. It all adds up to 30 bands playing for one of the most hard-rocking audiences ever assembled. Talk about a tough crowd to please.
But then, the folks behind Rock ‘N Rev know their audience. Presented by DC3 Global and hosted by Jim Rose and The Jim Rose Circus, Rock ‘N Rev promises spectacular fireworks displays every night, making the festival the loudest and baddest event of the summer. Promising to appeal to the “leather and chrome sensibilities” in everyone, Rock ‘N Rev also features plenty of great food, gear and clothing as well as the world’s top tattoo artists. This is one festival you’ll remember well into next year when it’s time to Rock ‘N Rev once more.
Here is the current line up:
