Sevendust Band Promo 2012January 23, 2014 — SEVENDUST didn’t waste any time getting 2014 started the best way they know how:  being holed up in the recording studio to create their long-awaited and highly-anticipated acoustic album.   TIME TRAVELERS & BONFIRES will be released in April on 7Bros. Records, in conjunction with ADA Label Services.  On April 1, they’ll hit the road for their first U.S. headlining tour of the year, entitled “An Evening With Sevendust,” which kicks off in Athens, GA at the Georgia Theatre.  It’s their first acoustic trek since 2004, when they were touring in support of their second album, SEASONS, and a format their fans have been anxiously awaiting for once again.
The Atlanta band–Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), John Connolly (guitar/vocals) and Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals)—entered Architekt Studios in Butler, NJ (where they recorded their previous BLACK OUT THE SUN album) at the beginning of the month to record their highly anticipated and much-talked-about acoustic studio album.
It will be a collection of brand new songs, along with re-recorded SEVENDUST classics.  Newly re-recorded songs will include:  “Black,” “Gone,” “Denial,” “Karma,” “Trust,” and “Crucified.”  Six brand new songs have also been written and recorded for the acoustic album.  It’s not the first time SEVENDUST has explored their acoustic side.  Their critically acclaimed SOUTHSIDE DOUBLE-WIDE live acoustic album was released in 2004.  As All Music Guide had praised:  “Fans should invest readily in SOUTHSIDE DOUBLE-WIDE…SEVENDUST’s famously confrontational sound smolders, and damn it if their sensitive side isn’t just as fiery.”
On Friday, November 22, 2013, SEVENDUST partnered with PledgeMusic for a direct-to-fan campaign to help fund the creation of TIME TRAVELERS & BONFIRES and was set to last 130 days.  Over the course of that first weekend, they reached their goal thanks to their “Family” of fans who had received the exciting news solely from the band’s and band member’s personal Facebook and Twitter sites.  SEVENDUST has always said they consider their fans to be part of the SEVENDUST Family, and they certainly proved their love and devotion for the band with the immediate response to the PledgeMusic opportunity.
With over 70 days left in the campaign, SEVENDUST has raised over 155% of their goal with over 2,550 pledges.  Exclusive incentives for pledgers included a digital download of the album before its available anywhere, exclusive updates during the making of the record, signed drumheads and guitar picks, being included in the album’s liner notes, autographed guitars used on tour, and dinner with the band (which was swiped up quick by two very lucky “Family” members).
BLACK OUT THE SUN debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Top Hard Music Albums” chart, as well as #18 on the “Top 200 Albums” chart, #4 on the “Record Label Independent Current Albums” chart, #5 on the “Top Current Rock Albums” chart, #14 on the “Overall Digital Albums” chart and #17 on the “Top Internet Albums” chart.
Later this month, SEVENDUST will be aboard the ShipRocked 2014 cruise, along with Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, In This Moment, Tremonti, Black Stone Cherry, and many others.  The ultimate rock music cruise vacation onboard the Norwegian Pearl will depart from the Port Of Miami and will visit Great Stirrup Cay–a private island in the Bahamas–during the January 26-30 excursion.  A limited number of staterooms for the ShipRocked 2014 experience are still available at www.ShipRocked.com.
Here is the official track listing of TIME TRAVELERS & BONFIRES:
1. Come Down
2. Under It All
3. The Wait
4. Upbeat Sugar
5. One Life
6. Bonfire
7. Gone
8. Denial
9. Trust
10. Crucified

Emphatic_Another Life CoverJuly 16, 2013–Omaha, Nebraska based hard rockers, Emphatic have announced a September 17th release date for their sophomore album “Another Life” with Epochal Artists Records/Capitol Music Group. The album will be the first to feature new frontman Toryn Green, who was previously the singer of multi-platinum rock band FUEL and the touring vocalist for Finnish cello rock band Apocalyptica.

“This band has seen its share of difficult situations and for me I was the guy that had to decide to give up or fix what was broken. Music is in my blood so giving up isn’t an option,” said guitarist Justin McCain. “After making that decision to continue we found Toryn and he was everything I’ve ever wanted in a frontman. The record is a reflection of the trials and tribulations we went through as a band over the past couple of years.”

Produced by Emphatic guitarist Justin McCain and co-produced by Ryan Greene at Validus Recording Studios in Los Angeles, “Another Life” showcases Emphatic’s newfound sense of maturity and creative firepower as they belt out a powerful dose of groundbreaking hard rock. Rejuvenated creatively, the band is now firing on all cylinders with a line-up that matches the intensity of their songs. “Another Life” is filled with gigantic hooks, powerful melodies and is an inspiring triumph over adversity.

Emphatic are best known for their major label debut album “Damage”, which produced the hit single “Bounce”, and shot the album onto the Billboard Heatseekers charts at #9. The album was produced by Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Halestorm), and featured A Perfect Circle’s Josh Freese playing drums on the record. From there, the band went on to take part in the Carnival Of Madness Tour alongside hard rock heavyweights Theory of a Deadman, Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, and Adelitas Way.

AUTOMAG

Deep in the Ditch

Wulverine Records

8 out of 10

Automag ain’t your Daddy’s Southern Rock. They are a moonshine fueled four piece out of Johnston County North Carolina. Never heard of JoCo? Well, you’ve heard of Flowers’ Moonshine and NASCAR right? Where do you think that shit originated? JoCo. Damned straight.

These boys fly their New Southern Outlaw flag drenched in mud, blood, shine, metal, Hank, cheap beer, and a lil’ JoCo stank for good measure. With songs like 4 Lo (the album title Deep in The Ditch comes from a line in the song) swinging with plenty of Southern swagger and double innuendos to make AC/DC blush. Ya might think it’s about good old fashioned mud boggin’ but I’m tellin’ you it’s all about that not so innocent Southern Bell pussy.

Automag has made a career singing about shine, bikers, good clean Country livin’ (oxymoron I know..), and a whole lot of drinking. Their third album may be their most accessible from a wide range of audiences. From today’s Country listeners (think Jason Aldean, Black Stone Cherry, and early Steve Earle) to the hard rock AC/DC aficionados and later day Metallica fans can all find something to celebrate in this album.

Do It celebrates any and every Friday or Saturday night hangin’ with your buddies, tailgates down, beer and shine being passed around a huge ass bon fire while your girl swings and sways to the music blaring out the pickups windows.

The big surprises on the album are actual ballads. We’re not talking Automag’s original ballad Black Mountain (never officially released but MUST be put on their next album. Hear me Mr. Paul Quinn? You want Rock and Country stations to play your shit? Black Mountain is the key to it. It is as relevant today as it was 10 years ago. More so now, look at the music landscape. Blackberry Smoke, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Black Stone Cherry, etc. etc. Black Mountain is right up there with them today.)

Where was I? Oh yeah, the ballads. Think of Me and In Your Arms may surprise long time fans of Automag. Full out songs of love and longing with acoustic tinges and the wonderful Wendy ‘Woo’ Brancaccio backing up Quinn’s mournful vocals aren’t the norm for Automag but fit well on the album and live it takes the shine fueled machismo of an Automag show down a couple steps and allows the audience to catch their breath, squeeze the cycle sluts a little tighter and simply appreciate good song craftsmanship.

I’m not saying that Automag is going soft, with the grit and swagger of In The County and the ridiculous riff running through Raise Hell, there can be no mistake that the boys in the band are still swinging a massive set of hard country tinged rock and full blown JoCo attitude.

The drumming on Deep in the Ditch may just be the best I’ve heard on an Automag album. The production of the album has finally been taken care of and at the level that all previous Automag albums should have been at. Dave Cook isn’t as technical as his predecessor Mike Cook (no relation), but Automag music needs a fly by the seat feel the swing of the beat drummer and Dave’s ability to swing one minute and beat the drums to bloody hell the next is what allows Automag’s swagger and power to reach its full potential.

This isn’t Hellbound, The band’s first album. But then, there isn’t else out there that is. My mistake and a lot of other peoples is that they constantly try to compare new Automag against Hellbound. While it isn’t fair to the new material it does say something about how strong their debut album was and still is. Production value aside, I’ll put Hellbound up against anything else released in the last 10 years. It remains in constant rotation on my iPod, it is one of four albums I tell people about to this day that they need to check out when they are asking me for new music or new bands to listen to (Throttlerod’s Hell and High Water, Isabelle’s Gift’s American Idle, and Brand New Sin’s self titled debut being the other three).

But this is a good solid album you can hang your hat on so throw it on the stereo, drop the tailgate, take a swig of some good ol’ fashioned Flowers‘ shine, smoke a lil kind, grab your favorite girl, and drop the hammer on 9 great tunes.
