DVD Review: BLOOD TIES: Season 2 Reviewed by: Jen Conrad
Paranormal fans, listen up! The second season of Blood Ties is available on DVD now! If you’re a fan of paranormal crime dramas like Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed, Supernatural, or Medium[b], you’ll totally dig [b]Blood Ties: Season 2!!! I mean seriously, how can you beat a smokin’ hot vampire, a sexy private investigator, a no-nonsense detective and a seriously convoluted romantic triangle? Oh yeah, throw in some shape shifters, demons and “bad vampires”, and you’ve got yourself a great season of television! Blood Ties is part of the Lifetime lineup and is based upon the book of the same name by Tanya Huff. The series features Private Investigator (and former Cop) Vicki Nelson and her partner, vampire Henry Fitzroy who investigate, much to their chagrin, an increasing number of cases involving paranormal activities. Luckily, Vicki’s ex-partner (and former romantic interest) Mike Celluci, is becoming a believer that paranormal activities are alive and well in the city, and are responsible for many of the cases that the police are involved in solving. So...you have sexual tension among VERY attractive people and vampires, unsolved deaths by various paranormal means, vampires who help mankind, and some very good twisting episode-writing all rolled together to form one really impressive crime/drama series! Not to mention, in an early episode, you have the appearance of Fitzroy’s maker, Christina, who shows up to add an additional story line to the already convoluted world in which the characters already live! She’s bad news, y’all! So, now I’ve become hooked on yet another paranormal series...thanks Eagle Rock Entertainment! Now I’m going to have to go buy the first season (and the book) to catch up! If you’re a fan of paranormal crime drama, HBO’s True Blood series (or the Southern Vampire books it is based on), or the Twilight book series, you will LOVE Blood Ties: Season 2! The series’ tagline is “A Crime Series With Bite!” It certainly is! DVD set is available now, so grab yourself a copy of Blood Ties: Season 2, and while you’re at it, you’d better get Blood Ties: Season 1 too! Really cool TV series comes highly recommended!!! |
